Peat and strength with tastes to enjoy,
The 10 year Laphroig keeps bartends employed,
I take one more sip,
And my hat I will tip,
To distillers of liquid joy.
Strong and woody with smoky dryness,
A drink that the gods would surely bless,
The nose, a perfume,
It goes down so smooth:
Like your girl stripping out of her dress.
Written in a “Scottish” bar: Mosaic, in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Not sure how authentic it is.
Smooth as silk with a splash of water
I sip as my wife talks of being a potter,
Its nose is sublime,
Soft as syrah wine,
The effects do make my pulse hotter.
Soft on the nose with some hints of oak
Bits of malt and some parts of smoke
The taste is so smooth,
I get in the groove,
Tonight I will drink and not choke
Smoky like fire on a peat bog
The scent fills my nose like san frisco fog
It’s best when it’s neat
And hard to be beat
This ardberg could knock out a hog
Balanced like gymnast on a balance beam
Strong or aggressive but surely not mean,
Bladnock has a kick
That I would not quit
If threatened with a large bottle of Beam.
Soft on the nose, with a hint of oak,
Dissonant but nice, without the smoke,
I drink and enjoy,
the tastes they employ,
me to write words to read to the folk.
Strong but softer than a good cigar,
A Scotch I will drink till close of the bar,
Strong and not sweet,
It’s taste is complete,
The smoothness makes this Scotch go far!
